  1. How do you know so much about canes?
    I've been a cane/crutch/walker user on and off for 30 years, due to osteoarthritis, post-surgical needs, and several other problems. I've used a cane full-time for the past few years, and am gradually using it a bit less. It took some getting used to, believe me! I do not try to replace the advice of your physical therapist or medical professional -- I just offer experienced, practical advice you can check for yourself with your own doctors. Sometimes when you call with questions, I can hold the very cane you are asking about while answering them! Hopefully I can answer most of your questions, or do a bit of research for you.

  2. I don't have access to a computer. Can I order over the phone? What are your hours?
    Yes. Call 1-800-346-6400 in the USA and Canada, and 1-434-591-1125 in Central Virginia. You can even fax me at 1-434-591-1129 from anywhere on the planet ... I am sorry to say we cannot afford to put out a catalog right now, so we invite you to make copies of the items you like right off the computer. And save your old catalogs! We are formally open from 10-6 Mon-Fri, and sometimes Saturdays, only not so late... since we are on the East Coast, in Virginia, use that time zone to calculate when to call. I have been known to answer even on Saturdays, when too close to the phone ...!

  4. What happens to my credit card information after you're done with it?

    Information sent directly through the website, as when you place your own order, is NOT stored anywhere in your account when finished being processed for the charge. No one here at Canes Galore has access to that information. We do this deliberately to avoid any security problems, which we have never had. We also shred documents with personal information on them daily.

  5. How can I get a flat fee shipping and handling cost?
    Shipping is based on the carrier, the type of shipment, the zip code/postal code/country being sent to, and the weight and measurements of the box being sent. We only add a bit for handling to each order, and the rest is exactly what the carrier charges us for the shipment. We would be glad to send you an estimate of these costs by email -- be as detailed as possible about your shipment's contents and shipping address.

  6. I want an extra tall cane or hiking staff -- what does it cost to ship?
    If they are so long they need a special box, I only charge $1 more, for a total of $9 for up to three, plus accessories.

    It would cost about $20. I would need more information, like the zip code it is going to, to confirm that amount.

  9. I want to order an expensive item that I can't pay for all at once -- do you have a layaway or payment plan?
    LAYAWAY! I am offering a layaway plan over no more than three months to anyone who buys $200 or more in merchandise. The merchandise would not be shipped until fully paid for, and the payments would be half the total if over two months, and one-third the total if over three months. A restocking fee will apply if cancelled before the item is sent. Please email me with your specifics to valery@canesgalore.com, and let's talk!

  10. I ordered something over the website, but now I want to change my order -- how?
    I have no problem changing an order, but if I've already cut your cane, and you change the order AFTERWARDS, there may be some complications. Catch it before it goes out in the mail and you can save shipping charges, at least. It will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Please call me at 1-800-346-6400 as soon as possible.

  11. This cane is a gift for someone else -- can you ship it to them, and include a card?
    Yes -- I will ship to a second address. When requested, I send the receipt to the buyer. The buyer can be sent a tracking number if I have an email address. A note or card can be included at no extra charge, but you have to specifically ask for it when you place your order, including what occasion and what you want written inside. I have generic cards in addition to birthday and holiday cards.

  12. This cane isn't what I wanted at all -- how do I return it?
    If you have any doubts at all about a cane, do NOT have me cut it for you. Then it is returnable within 30 days. If it is cut, it becomes harder to resell, so is non-returnable. You may get a merchandise credit with Canes Galore for a later purchase, or be charged a restocking fee.  Depends on the circumstances. I have a 30-day money-back guarantee in place for all new items that are returned in the same condition. Shipping and handling fees are non-returnable, unless the error is our fault.

  13. You said the canes would be here today, and they're not. Now it's too late for his present.
    I do my best to give you an approximate date of delivery. All shipments have a tracking number, and you can track it, or I can do it for you. I cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items in the hands of the carrier. If you need a guaranteed delivery date, I can arrange that through any carrier for an increased S&H fee. I have only ONE cane in the past year go missing!

    If it is in stock, I can have it to you in 2 to 4 working days. You can also request a shipment by FEDEX even faster. I will ship it to you any way you request, so long as you foot the bill.

    NO CATALOGS are currently available -- the website is our virtual catalog, and the most up-to-date information available. Our newsletter will come out monthly or less -- you can unsubscribe at any time. The first issue is planned for September 2006.
