How to Choose the Right Size

Cane tips are measured by inside diameter — that's the opening that slides over your cane shaft, not the width of the rubber base. To find your size, measure the diameter of your cane shaft at the bottom, or check the size printed on your current tip. Our most common sizes include:

• 3/8" — Combi-spike ferrules, metal-tipped hiking sticks
• 5/8" — Slim wooden canes, folding travel canes
• 3/4" — Standard wooden and aluminum walking canes (most common)
• 7/8" — Lofstrand crutches, larger-shaft canes
• 1" to 1-1/8" — Walkers, commodes, heavy-duty canes

Pro tip: If you're replacing tips on a walker, remember that walkers have four legs — you'll need to order two pairs to cover all four contact points.

When to Replace Your Cane Tips

The CDC reports that falls are the leading cause of injury among older adults, and worn mobility equipment is a contributing factor. Check your cane tips regularly for these warning signs:

• Visible cracks, tears, or thinning in the rubber
