Long white canes for independent travel, and white support canes. They are kept separate here, because they do different jobs.
Long white canes are navigation canes. You sweep the cane ahead of you to read the ground before you reach it, and the white shaft is what state white cane laws recognize. Ours come in three, five, and six folding sections from 42" through 54", plus crook-handle models in aluminum and hardwood. A long white cane is generally sized to reach somewhere between the sternum and the chin — if you work with an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, they can confirm the right length for your stride and travel style.
White support canes bear weight rather than probe ahead. Same white finish, different purpose: offset and curved handles, small and large quad bases, adjustable from 30" to 39".
