Metal ice pick ferrule made of nickel plated steel. These can be fit on the bottom of most wooden Walking Sticks or hiking sticks for sure grip of ice and snow. Installation is required for this item; end of Walking Stick or stick must be sized to accommodate tapered ferrule. Some need sanding of stick to fit, and some need fitting of the end of the stick. We can arrange for a tip like this to be installed on the end of most hiking staffs that end in the letter "H". There is a separate listing for doing an installation for you on a hiking staff or stick bought at same time, model no. ending in H. EACH SIZE METAL SPIKE FERRULE IS LISTED SEPARATELY. Note: Flat black tip #8320708H will fit over the end of this product, all sizes.

Decent spike.

I have the ferrule installed and have been using it for the past two weeks hiking around 20 miles through assents and descents. I did not have any tools to make a good taper for a solid fit, so I used my belt sander and filled in the gaps with epoxy. The ferrule did not come with nails or screws for a mechanical bond even though there were two premade holes for that purpose. I would have happily paid a few dollars for some stainless steel screws.
